Hoop

I quit my job to join the circus!
Hahha, dont panic. I'm still loving my accounting day job. I've just stopped moonlighting at that chicken restaurant to make time for my new hobby! I havent had time to blog =( I didnt even have time to shop at all in October!

Absolutely LOVE it! When i was a kid i always wanted to join gymnastics but father said its dangerous. So, sheltered Sue never got the chance =(

As a 25 year old adult, i'm glad that this wonderful modern world offers me pole dancing for fitness and aerial fitness! =) Some of the other girls are sooo intimidatingly flexible, strong and graceful but really, as an adult, i am able to focus on myself and leave my insecurities at the door

Tried a couple of casual classes, the first time (17/9/2011) i couldn't lift my body up into the hoop without help from the teacher. The second time (8/10/2011), i managed to get up on my own! But i did cheat a little and hurt my back a little...

Signed up for an 8 week course that begun this week =) =) So much fun! Warm up, some strength training which focuses on shoulders and upper body, followed by 20minutes of tricks where we did what is shown in the picture above, a bit of pilates and then stretch to cool down.

It just makes me so happy! I was surprised at how well i managed =) Managed to get up onto the hoop with either my right leg first or my left leg first! =) I'm surprised at how much control i had in my arms to dismount from the hoop (to avoid injury).

The previous 8 week pole dancing course i did really helped with fitness. A couple of friends asked if i lost weight and upon weighing myself, i've lost 2kilos! 3kg more to lose!

Honoured

Because i've successfully migrated to Australia, suddenly i'm valuable to Malaysia! They've realised they are losing talent to countries like UK, Australia and Singapore.

A government linked company (GLC) was set up and they planned a networking event for Malaysian professionals working abroad. I was honoured to get an invitation to the Melbourne event!

View from the 25th floor, the penthouse of the Langham Hotel, where the event was held. Taken by the iPhone 4. I was told that there was another event for non-Accountants, held in the Melbourne Aquarium the next day

Not knowing what to expect, i went with an open mind. They weren't pushing us hard, they werent trying to get us to go back. Its a pretty simple evening, just mingling and small talk with other Malaysians and a couple of ex-colleagues. Buffet dinner too!

A good friend i met through this blog was there too, and when people asked how did you meet, he'd go silent and i'd say "Friend of a friend", which is true. A friend's blog link!

The highlight of the night was chatting with the Executive Chairman of the company i worked for in Kuala Lumpur for 2 years

Chats were in groups of 3 or 4 people. I noted how he read each and everyone of our business cards and asked us about our work. Before he left the group i was with, he drirectly looked at me and gave me advice specifically related to my job! =) Never had that honour when i was in KL!

Grand Finals

Colleagues, both men and women Aussies, were talking about it at 4.35pm Friday. Thai colleague n i were just listening

I figured out which footy team my boss was supporting and i figured out that bbq goes hand in hand for the weekend

Didnt wanna be left out, feels like a big thing so i kinda invited myself to a couple of friends' place for the afternoon to watch the game on tv! Hahahah, was good cuz i get some explanation on the rules n stuff.

Watched the first two rounds, 20 minutes each and was falling asleep towards the end! Hahahha, by the third they changed the channel and were watching Community! The girls, one guy and i started playing Monopoly deal and the rest switched back to the final round.

Before i knew it, Geelong Cats were hugging each other n i asked, is it over? My boss will be happy on Monday because Collingwood Magpies lost.

Woke up today at 1.30pm, with a sore throat and cough from all that bbq! Thats my first Grand Final weekend in Australia =) Daylight savings is here!
