Curry Puffs

Really good curry puffs sold from the car boot of an illegally parked car

The friendly uncle who sells those delicious sinful curry puffs used to drive an old green wira. He upgraded to a nice new shiny car. I wonder why... Dont underestimate 80cents per piece. It goes a long way!

Some say he used sell his curry puffs on a motor bike! Look how far he's come along! (Picture taken in July 2009)

Farewell with Ex-Colleagues

(20/3/2010) Was afraid the busy auditors won't be able to make it for my farewell if i planned one, but the turn out was good =)

I did have to send them threatening smses to harass these professionals into coming to my farewell. Hahahha! None of the guys showed up so it was a girls night out

PY and i, loved our AT times and lunches together. Only worked with her for a day. Worked till 3am, it was a mad life we led

WY, she was also there working with PY and i till 3am on 15/1/2010, i will never forget that night! After the Away Day, WY and i became good friends over Facebook =) Other colleagues were shocked we're close

I've mentioned before that i love meeting many people in audit. I think i only worked with her for less than a week in 2008 but we pour our hearts out to each other

My roomie wayyyy back in Port Dickson! We email and call each other from time to time =) Hope i am able to keep it up

Smart and pretty JT and RC, ex-auditor YS who is now a fashion merchandiser and unemployed me who's going on spontaneous crazy trips

One of my beloved school till work bestfriends MY, i felt so sad seeing her sad as i left the firm. JY from university (but we were just acquiantances), photogenic YH and fashionable AL. Going to miss all of them

Too bad fellow Blogger Isya couldnt make it. Such a shame that her Suju concert fell on the same night as my farewell, we didnt get to do a proper goodbye =(

The attendance list i made. All that confirmed came =) Thanks girls for making it a special farewell for me!

Out of the Corporate World

And into the realm of unemployment

Walked out of the building for the last time as an employee with a heavy heart. Had mixed feelings - its like 6 Saturdays and 1 Sunday a week at first, where i wake up in the morning and smile.

Then again i fear seeing all my peers advance in their careers earning big bucks and sporting fancy titles while i end up no where, penniless with a whole shitload of catching up to do.

The last time i went down that lift

Opened and closed my locker, pegion hole as we call it for the last time. See in my previous line of profession we are mobile staff, we get sent on different assignments all over KL and sometimes outstation, so they dont bother allocating a permanent desk to us

The 15th floor. Empty cubicles, sit anywhere for the day, sit somewhere else tomorrow, its called the Hotelling system, login to the Cisco phones to receive calls on your DID, get a free apple or snacks on Friday. No personal touch, no keychains or souveniers line the dividers.

See those cranes in the middle, thats where i used to park. Development in KL is rapid. 1 Sentral was completed at the end of 2007 when the co i used to work for moved in. There were empty plots of land not a stone's throw away from the building which were utilised as carparks. One by one they the carparks closed to give way to development. There will be a Bank Rakyat twin towers in the years to come

On lucky days, i get to park under the LRT tracks on the left of the picture for a fee of RM3 per day. Thats the end

Like i said on Facebook, another chapter of my life has ended, will miss the people

Jitra, North Malaysia, Part 2

Last Thurday night i didnt turn on the tv cuz i went here!

Walked fast to get there before sunset. Walked past this abandoned and haunted building (or so they say).

RM 6 per entry
Looks kinda rundown... doesn't take long to make one round

When i told my senior i went up, she asked if i could see paddy fields! Haha, No more of that can be seen from the tower, its all town area today.

A security guard spoke to me, and i learnt of a revolving restaurant. The same kind as the one in the KL tower, after all its managed by the same utilitites company. You can't just go up to look-see, so i said i'll have a drink

Watched the sunset alone, in a table meant for two. Sounds sad huh? But you cant spend life waiting for someone to do things with u, u gotta be independent at times, see the world, or towers on your own.

And master the art of self shots for the blog =P

Made the slightly dull restaurant look good through my camera lens. Shortly after, i got bored, paid my bill RM7.50 and decided to go see the observation deck again. Whoa!

So much prettier by nightfall. And the wind in my hair was magnificient, i loved it! At night, open air rocks!

Coffee vending machine became my tripod =P See my hair flying!? Such a nice way to wind down after 4 days of hard work!

Pardon me for wearing slippers

After that i called a cab to get back to the hotel even though its walking distance cuz i was alone and it was dark. Stupid taxi driver wanted to charge me RM10, bargained to RM8. Sighhhh

Senior picked up the Jap manager from the airport and then me for a Thai dinner. God i love Jitra for its food, always spicy Thai food

If u ever, for some reason head to Jitra, go to Restaurant 5 Utara, its near a Maybank in Jitra. Goooood fooood by a Thai owner and supplies imported from Thailand in a pickup truck. U must try the coconut jelly!

After dinner we went to our respective rooms/home to work into the night

Jitra, North Malaysia, Part 1

Senior colleague emailed me early February. Told me i was going to Jitra for work. Okay, even though i had no idea where that is

The road to KLIA, 6 something am, the boyfriend drove me. The beauty of taking Australian professional papers is that dont have classes on weekdays or weekends (except for focus session), so i am eligible for outstation business trips! =D The ACCA people lose out.

I look more like a kid than a 23year old woman going on a biz trip. Travelled by Malaysian Airlines 8am flight cuz budget Fireflyz depart KL at 9.30am

The plane was less than half full, each passenger travelling alone had three seats to her/himself =) Slept all the way, woke up a bit to see verdent green paddy fields, and went back to sleep =P My kind senior picked me up from the airport (she's an Alor Setar girl so she went back earlier to spend some time with family. She drove her mom's car). Worked.

Thats my room! StarCity Hotel. Damn comfortable, called it home for 4 nights. With the TV as my only companion. I made myself at home by unpacking

The 'kitchen' with my instant noodles, 3 in 1 coffee and of course, a bottle of USANA vitamins =) I never go a day without my Essentials and Biomega, with the kind of hours i work, its a must

My 'dressing' table, facial and skin care products strewn all over it. Loreal, Sense, Oxy, Red Earth, Vaseline to hang onto whatever youth i have

Audit client beared all expenses. Mr YS is the Senior Manager, he'll join the team for review on Thurs night and the whole of Friday. He's a good boss. He's a Japanese man who has lived in Malaysia for 8years, already as Malaysian as can be but works insane hours just like a true Japanese

My luggages, tiga biji ! Hehehe, get to know me, i NEVER travel light. What girl travels light for that matter??

Brought my own hangers! Hahaha, and i realized that throughout my almost 1.96years of working, i have never ironed my shirts till this trip! God, am i spoilt in Malaysia, thats gonna change soon, dreads!

Monday night i watched some reality Nanny series, Tues - Kyle XY, Wed - Phua Chu Kang season and series finale and a travel show featuring Brazil, Thurs... i didnt turn on the tv. Its quite routine. Dinner, bath, tv, online. At 10pm i'd continue working till about 2am daily =(

Camwhored when i got so bored =) 4 pillows all to myself! Smooth skin on Monday night. Picture NOT photoshopped in any way, colour not adjusted, only resized from 769kb to 66kb and added label, click to enlarge =P By the end of the week, there were so many bumps on my forehead, i had to use Oxy 10 instead of 5

View from my room. Clueless me asked my senior, whats that. Hahah, Alor Setar Tower she informed me, a landmark for the little city. I wanted to go up, go visit!

I stepped out wanting to make my way there one evening, but it was getting dark, i decided not to go, all alone. Picture from ground floor. Just fell back into my daily routine. Wednesday night i camwhored again!

Bored and indifferent, my reflection behind my laptop, Excel on the screen

Played the super stressed role, pulling hair included. A photographer friend i met 'through' MDG told me about composing shots- its about deciding what goes into a picture, what to be included and what to be left out of the frame, he told me that composing takes a lot of time. I love whats captured in this frame, even if my pic turned out blur and sengek (slanted), another thing those photographers cannot tolertate, from their comments on pictures in Facebook

A smile to cheer myself up =) Realized that the mirror is SUPER FREAKING clear !!! Why cant all mirrors be this clear?

My night shift desk. Other than working late into the night (12hours a day in total but only getting paid for 8hours), i HATE HATE HATE carrying my whole 'office' on my back, everything in one backpack, stationary, files, the pc, the charger... Its heavy and burdensome. I always stare at other ladies walking to work with just a single handbag in envy

Ciggie Break

Without the cigs, i dont smoke! Hahaha

Just had to step out cuz it was FREEZING in the meeting room the client assigned to the auditors for the week. Snapped a pic of my attire:

Pink sleeveless shirt inside my warm wooly long sleeved overall thingie (from Aust autumn sales!), white jacket with a ribbon instead of buttons from Sub (got it for half price if i may add =) and a shawl over it all (from Bali)

Took the tissue box down from my car and was blowing my nose and sneezing all day =S Thats my 3rd day of work in 2010. Was stuck in traffic on the 2nd day of work:

KL skyline at 8am, Chan Sow Lin area.

Take a look at this, note that the monitors are on the right of the desk while the keyboard is on the desk:

Hahhaa, found it hilarious when SA told me that the client's staff put it that way so that they can Facebook during office hours! Their boss sits behind them, in a glass windowed room.

I smsed my Senior last week to check in advance if client wants us to work on the 4th, Monday, before i made any plans. She told me that its our firm hol and "enjoy urself" =)

So i headed to Midvalley/Gardens (cant believe parking's full!) to meet E and DLTM, whom i met online through this blog over a year ago, for lunch and just to catch up. DL thanks for lunch! Forgot to thank u tht day!

On Tuesday, i found out tht Senior worked on Mon since the client insisted they wanted the auditors to start the audit on the 4th and she didnt call me in to work cuz she had already told me i didnt have to! So sweet of her, right? Other bosses may not be so nice!

Started 2010 on a busy note

Rushed home from Port Klang on 31st

It was jammed, i wished i was on the flyover above me...

I felt small and vulnerable driving a Kancil in Port Klang, these monsters can eat me up...

31st Dec didnt feel like it, didnt go out since i was working on 1st Jan. Felt depressed and asked E to bring me to the hill in Taman Segar

We got there at 11.40pm, double parked and joined many others to catch a view of the KL skyline on the turn of the decade.

Nothing spectacular but so simple and satisfying, my 6th New Year's Eve together with E =D

Rushed home to get much needed sleep. Friday - Drove to Banting (the client's place is off limits in my map book!) for the longest stocktake i ever had - 13hours, god. Thank goodness colleagues were pleasant chatty people and the client's Finance Manager and CFO were super duper nice, the CFO actually stayed till 9pm plus and even helped count stock!

Will u be this humble when u are on top?

Came home to a dark house, i missed my extended family's 1st Jan dinner. Microwaved leftovers, ate alone and went to bed

Saturday, 2nd Jan - Gym, lunch, online, nap, documentation aka worked. Mamak and some quality time with E! =D

Sunday, 3rd - Gym, lunch, napped till MY called about dinner! Was like shit, i need to work so i worked hard and fast, just as i was gonna log off and hit the shower, SY and SJ arrived at my house, shit! Running late, E arrived to pick us up, i forgot my camera!

Sighhh, its 4th Jan and i have no pix yet! =(

Chocolate Wrappers

That client in Subang that caused me to get stuck in Federal Hwy's rush hour traffic is none other than Malaysia's distributor of Hersheys! And other chocolates yumm...

Its also the client that makes me fat! The staff will say "Try this" or "Try that" to my senior, YY who would 'share' the freebies with me.

Just as i've eaten the yellow peanut butter truffle (while vouching sales invoices), YY came along, not to ask me about my progress but to offer me those chocolate sticks! She went on about a promo buy 2 cartons free 1, i was like, mmm, this is good! Ok la, we'll take 18boxes each!

Yes, EIGHTEEN boxes. Hahahahah

Crazy. And she left the whole box on my table. I chomped on one after another while carrying out the tedious tasks of an auditor before i realized, damn i am gonna put on weight

Picked one more last stick (greedy) and brought the box back to YY, dump it on her table, the client saw me and gave me MORE of the yellow truffles! Crap

They look pretty on my Dell work lappy and beloved Canon USB calculator.

Guess how much i spent on chocolates this week? Wholesale price

Chocolates i took home on Thursday, more came Friday, went back to office and YY and i were like Santa Clause, handing out chocolate to whoever we know. It puts a smile on my face, giving feels good. Especially when its cheap

Really brighten up my day, after doing time in the dungeon, i mean, filing room:

In between each of those wheels are rows and rows of files! My father should get one of these for my mom

Those wheels are powerful stuff, the files are heavy but turning the wheel isnt difficult. If someone doesn't know u are in there and starts turning one of those wheels, u'll be squashed in between, that strong! Noooooooooooooooooooo, i dont wanna die at work. Haha, just joking!

This filing room isnt as bad, hot and dusty as the client in Selayang. That was hell. This one wasnt too bad. Not dusty, and... er... i can even take off my heels and walk around in there barefoot and my feet doesnt get dirty...
